Sculpture Four Days Event

Have you always wanted to make your own sculpture from clay? During this extensive four-day course you will learn step by step how to build a sculpture, from the basics to the last details. In three lessons of 2.5 hours you will work on the construction of your sculpture and during an extensive glazing lesson you will give your creation the perfect finish. We will guide you through the entire process, so that you go home with a beautiful end result. Whether you are a beginner or already have experience, this course offers plenty of room for creativity and personal development. Because the group is no larger than 4 people, there is good personal guidance for everyone!

What can you expect?

Lesson 1: Introduction and basics (2.5 hours)
We start with an introduction to clay, the tools you will use and templates you can use. Then we start with the base of your sculpture: the feet and legs. You will learn how to create a solid foundation, which is important for the stability of your work.

Lesson 2: Upper body and arms (2.5 hours)
During the second lesson we focus on the upper body and arms. You will learn techniques to create natural proportions and poses and can experiment with details, such as clothing or accessories. The image is really starting to take shape now!

Day 3: Perfecting the head and details (2.5 hours)
In this session you will work on the head and facial expression. We will pay attention to fine details such as hair textures, accessories and other unique elements that give your sculpture character. Afterwards we will let your sculpture dry completely and so that it is prepared for the first round of baking.

(Two weeks drying time)
We plan two weeks between this session and the next, so that your sculpture can dry completely and be fired in the ceramic kiln.

Day 4: Glazing (3 hours)
The last session is all about finishing your sculpture with glaze. We start with an extensive explanation of colours, techniques and decoration options, so that you can get started well prepared. Then you apply the glaze to your sculpture and give it the look you have in mind. Once you are satisfied, the sculpture is fired again in the oven. After this baking round, we agree on a pick-up date, so that you can come and collect and admire your unique creation!
